Equity Residential Selects Intuit Real Estate Solutions’
Residential Management Software
Multi-Family Enterprise System Helps Leading
Property Owner/Manager Streamline Business Operations
CLEVELAND, Ohio —August 31, 2005 –Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR), the largest publicly traded owner, operator and developer of multifamily housing in the United States, has selected Intuit Real Estate Solutions, IRES, to improve access to critical information. IRES, a division of Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), develops property management software for the global real estate industry. Equity Residential will be utilizing a comprehensive suite of IRES’ MRI Residential software solutions, which includes property management, general ledger and accounts payable applications.
According to Gerry Spector, Equity Residential’s Chief Operating Officer, “This system will provide management with easy web-based access to operational data, and will increase efficiencies for our property staff and residents. We require a broad view of company performance and the suite of software applications offered by MRI Residential will enable the company to better analyze data on this central platform.”
“Our decades of experience in the real estate industry--coupled with our ongoing interactions with clients--have sparked the continual evolution of our products and services,” said Robert C. Ballou, president of IRES. “In turn, we are equipped to deliver the highest value to our clients…no matter their size, complexity or unique business processes.”
Cost-effective, Reliable Solution
IRES provides a direct route to addressing Equity Residential’s technology needs. The Web-based system is consistent with Equity Residential’s financial reporting structure and stores information in a single database. This web-based database system provides management with access to key performance indicators from anywhere at any time.
“MRI Residential gives us a better view of how the business is running,” Spector said. “We can compare various locations to isolate strengths and weaknesses and can share our inventory of available units across markets. By knowing what the unit availability is across our portfolio, we can further improve our leasing process by reaching out to more clients. ”
eLearning helps Equity Residential Streamline Training
In order to help Equity Residential maximize the power of this solution, the company is also utilizing IRES’ eLearning solution, which provides self-paced training on the MRI Residential system via the Internet.
“Taking advantage of online training, when coupled with our internal training focus, will help us shorten the learning curve and provide a better training experience for our associates. In addition, eLearning is helping us accelerate our roll-out process,” added Spector.
